Harrah

Community Overview

Harrah, one of Oklahoma's fastest growing cities, is located just 20 minutes east of downtown Oklahoma City. Known as "The Heart of the Heartland", Harrah's central Oklahoma location makes it ideal for business and residential growth. The community of 6,400 is located near Tinker Air Force Base, the nation's largest jet engine maintenance center and within minutes of Oklahoma City's major metropolitan shopping and entertainment districts.

Business Advantages
Harrah is open for business. The community is located along Highway 62 (NE 23rd) in eastern Oklahoma County and provides four lane access to Interstate 40. It is within 20 minutes of the nation's major Interstate crossroads (I-35, I-44 and I-40). Passenger and cargo service is available at nearby Will Rogers World Airport. Harrah is also home to three exits on the new Kickapoo Turnpike, that connects Interstate 40 and Interstate 44 in the eastern part of Greater Oklahoma City.

The community has low business costs, access to a productive workforce, competitive utility rates, water and sewer capacity, and an aggressive state and local incentive package. The 155 acre Harrah Industrial Park offers several choice "shovel-ready" sites. The Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center provides training custom designed for your business or industry. Approximately 40 motor freight companies serve Harrah.

The sales tax rate for the City of Harrah is 4%. The Harrah Industrial and Economic Development Trust can provide local financing.

Quality of Life
Founded in 1898, Harrah offers a wonderful blend of urban and rural living, including new residential communities, small acreages and farms/ranches. Most of the terrain is gently rolling with an abundance of trees and open spaces for experiencing beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The nearby North Canadian River Valley in Harrah is a natural habitat and winter nesting site for the Bald Eagle.

Downtown Harrah is home to an exciting redevelopment known as Sweeney Switch. The city-back development is in an investment in Harrah's historic downtown. At the heart of Sweeney Switch is the Lumber Shack, a new venue inside a former lumber yard that houses a local favorite, the Chicken Shack.

The Harrah School system has long been recognized as one of the best in the state. Harrah students consistently score in the upper rankings for state and national achievement scores. Harrah excels in the percentage of its students that advance to higher education.

Harrah is also within a short drive of several major universities, including The University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City University, the University of Central Oklahoma, Rose State College, Oklahoma Baptist University, Southern Nazarene University and Oklahoma Christian College.

Harrah is also home to a new SSM Health facility that provides top-notch urgent, primary and specialty care to its citizens.

Harrah residents enjoy several events and festivals, including Harrah Daze and Harrah "Live" music concerts at the Harrah Heritage Park. Outdoor opportunities are abundant at several recreational lakes including boating, skiing, camping, picnicking and fishing.
