Tinker Air Force Base's beginnings and its history since provide it a firm foundation for the future as it continues to support U.S. war fighters and its allies across the globe into the 21st century, one of its top leaders said Monday.
Lt. Gen. Lee K. Levy II, commander of the Air Force Sustainment Center, Air Force Material Command based at Tinker, delivered that message not only to his brothers and sisters in arms, but also other invited guests at a luncheon celebrating the start of a year of events that will commemorate the base's 75th anniversary.
Those events later this year include a dining out event, an anniversary gala, an air show and the Air Force Ball on Sept. 16.
Levy said he looks forward to those, as they not only celebrate the base's anniversary, but also the relationship it has with surrounding communities, the U.S. Air Force's 70th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of a U.S. Navy Wing making its home at Tinker.
