Yukon company captures oil-field spillsPublished: Friday, October 27, 2017 By: Adam Wilmoth Source: NewsOK
After years of helping small oil and natural gas producers prevent and minimize spills, Yukon resident Jeremy Bird found a better way to make the leaks stop.
Bird's time in the field helped him see how rubber seals around the metal rod in an oil pump jack would wear down, leading oil and saltwater to escape from the wellhead and spill on the ground.
"When I worked for a small operator, this was the No. 1 problem we found," Bird said. "For most people, this is the No. 1 thing that is going to leak on a location. It's going to wear out."
Bird formed Yukon-based Anti-Pollution Technologies Inc. and developed his stuffing box leak detectors, a product designed to plug into the wellhead and capture fluids that otherwise would spill on the ground.
