OU Health Sciences Center lands nationally recognized craniomaxillofacial surgeonPublished: Monday, November 20, 2017 By: Paula Burkes Source: NewsOK
The oral facial surgery (OFS) practice on the second floor of the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center had a different name before Paul Tiwana joined partners Steven Sullivan and Kevin Smith on the OU Health Sciences Center campus.
Tiwana's arrival this fall — the trio reasoned — was the ideal time to rebrand their practice as “Profiles OFS.” The expert surgeons wanted to highlight that their maxillofacial surgery practice is different from most. And, boy, is it.
Versus wisdom teeth removal and dental implants, Profiles' focus is on reconstructive surgery that not only changes the profiles, but also the lives of patients who may have suffered facial trauma or been born with abnormalities such as a cleft lip and palate defect or misaligned jaws.
Each of the partners averages four to five, mostly hospital-based surgeries per week — or collectively, some 1,000 or more a year.
