It is taking some time.

But step by step, the owners of Western Electric's mammoth west side plant that once built telephone switching equipment are making it economically relevant again.

During the past dozen plus years, Zerby Interests and other investors steadfastly have marketed the 1.6-million-square-foot building as a reliable place for businesses to house their people and data.

In doing so, they've highlighted the complex's capabilities. And they've had some success, attracting and keeping a growing number of businesses that employ about 1,200 workers, so far.
