BancFirst closes deal to buy OKC's second-tallest building

The 36-story building formerly known as Cotter Ranch Tower is back in local ownership after 14 troubled years of control by the late Texan James Cotter.

The $21 million purchase by BancFirst was $6.9 million less than what was paid by Cotter in 2004. The property was among an array of Cotter properties that ended up in bankruptcy when a family dispute broke out over Cotter's will after his death in January 2017.

Within the past few years the Cotter Ranch brand and name has quickly disappeared from the entry doors and above the security desk. The guards themselves were freed from their required western wear uniforms and cowboy hats when the property was placed under court receivership last year.
