Civic and business leaders gathered Tuesday to celebrate the start of construction for a $40 million headquarters that will bring hundreds of tech jobs downtown.

The seven-story building at NW 6 and Broadway is being built by brothers Andy and David Burnett, is set to relocate 160 employees working at the current operation in Edmond and will include the hiring of at least 345 more workers.

Heartland delivers credit, debit and prepaid card processing, payroll and payment solutions to more than 300,000 businesses and educational institutions nationwide. The Oklahoma City Council agreed to provide $1 million in jobs payments and another $2.3 million in tax increment financing for the headquarters.

Tony Capucille, president of Heartland Payment Systems, praised city leaders for working with his company in securing a new headquarters in Oklahoma City as it competed with several other cities across the country.
