Kimberly Meyers was still a block away when she saw the No. 7 bus depart the stop by Baptist Integris Hospital, leaving her to wait for the next bus 30 minutes later.

A 25-minute trip downtown had now been doubled, as Meyers, who does not own a car, was running late for her job at a dry cleaner.

“I’m at the mercy of the bus and when ... I miss one I’m going to be very late,” she said.

A faster and more frequent bus ride to downtown is coming, although not for another four years.
