Kratos will build 12 combat drones in OKC this yearPublished: Wednesday, February 26, 2020 By: Dale Denwalt Source: NewsOK
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions announced it has begun production plans to manufacture its Valkyrie unmanned combat aircraft in Oklahoma City.
The California-based company previously announced it would build the Valkyrie here, along with all of its other tactical drones. In a conference call with industry analysts, CEO Eric DeMarco said the company's momentum is reflected in the U.S. Air Force's recent statements about the aircraft.
"The Air Force stated that the Valkyrie will fly in the service's next Advanced Battle Management System experiment in April, and that the Air Force expects that we’ll see an attritable drone program called Skyborg in the fiscal 2022 budget. We believe that if we continue to execute, we will be successful," DeMarco said.
"Attritable" is a term for designs emphasizing lower-costs in unmanned aircraft.
