A $160,000 CARES Act grant is helping launch a non-profit job training program to meet an increasing demand for workers needed to produce films in Oklahoma.
The training, which includes a full film production, started Tuesday and marked the first use of sound stages at Prairie Surf Studio (formerly the Cox Convention Center).
The film, “Running Behind,” is adapted from a script written by student Peyton Benge and the production itself was put on a fast track because of the requirement that the money be spent by Friday.
This week was the inaugural class for the Film Education Institute of Oklahoma, which itself was formed just a few months ago. The class consisted of 37 instructors from an array of industry backgrounds working with 41 students.
