Two educational "bootcamps" are forming at the University of Oklahoma for people interested in cybersecurity and coding careers.

The part-time, 26-week programs will be presented in a live online format, and are geared toward students with any level of skill in information technology, or IT.

Belinda Biscoe, senior associate vice president of University Outreach at OU, said the bootcamps will teach critical cybersecurity and programming skills to people looking for high-demand tech jobs. She estimates there are 4,000 cybersecurity or coding jobs available in Oklahoma.

OU is partnering with Fullstack Academy, a coding bootcamp based in New York City to deliver the two programs:

The Cyber Bootcamp will teach students how to monitor and secure systems, networks and applications, as well as deploy offensive and defensive tactics needed to appropriately respond to cyber breaches, the school said.

Students who sign up for the Coding Bootcamp will receive fullstack JavaScript training, giving them a foundation in web development and programming skills needed for coding jobs.
