Oklahoma City named a top ten city for college grads
Published: Wednesday, June 22, 2022 By: Erick Perry Source: VeloCityZumper.com has named Oklahoma City as one of the “Top 10 best cities for college grads.” The site considered average income, median rent prices, unemployment rates, opportunities for social activity and more in their analysis of the country’s top cities.
Seven specific metrics were used to determine each cities’ grades:
- Median rent prices
- Population of 18-34-year-olds
- Population of 25-year-olds and younger
- Population of non-married people
- Restaurants per 100 thousand people
- Unemployment rates
Cities were then given a grade in each category, and an overall ranking determined by the above categories, combined.
Rent prices and unemployment rates were two of the main metrics considered, making up 40 percent of the overall grade. Oklahoma City aced both areas, combining with other metrics to make it into the tenth spot in the nation. Nearby Texas cities, Dallas and Forth Worth, came in at 12 and 21. Tulsa was listed at 71.
The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber has added to the experience of the city’s young professionals with InternOKC. The event promotes the idea of living and working in Oklahoma City after graduation from college and helps those who attend to learn key skills in developing, professionally.
