For more than 38 years, Anheuser-Busch’s Metal Container Corporation Oklahoma City Lid Plant (MCC OKC) has produced aluminum lids for the beverage industry with a simple dream: "World Class Performance." Located in the heart of Oklahoma City, the plant typically produces more than 40 million lids a day, or 13 billion annually.

MCC OKC supplies lids to Anheuser-Busch breweries across the country and billions annually to companies worldwide.

The Oklahoma City Lid Plant opened in 1986 with just 30 employees. The hard work, constant adaptation and innovation of these employees, affectionately called the “Dirty Thirty,” set the stage for MCC OKC to become one of the largest lid plants in the world.

To keep up with global demand for lids, MCC OKC keeps pace with the latest technological developments while pushing the limits of its processes with proactive innovations. Many of the biggest breakthroughs in lid making were pioneered in Oklahoma City, including advancements in quality testing, lightweighting, process improvement and lid design.

MCC OKC has a strong workforce with many second-generation employees and even entire families among its ranks. The plant has focused on training the next generation of world-class Oklahoma lid makers through its “home grown” training program, which offers professional development opportunities for its team.

In addition, MCC OKC has partnered with local businesses for on-site training classes and local vocational tech programs for leadership, electrical and mechanical training with Moore Norman Technology Center and Francis Tuttle Technology Center. Through these local partnerships, MCC OKC has been able to continuously upskill its workforce.

MCC OKC leverages new technologies, automation, robotics, tools and equipment to provide unparalleled opportunities to empower its Oklahoma employees to grow and develop. The plant is an industry leader in its training programs and initiatives, utilizing AI-driven video and digital learning to develop its skilled workforce.

Never content with the status quo, MCC OKC Lid Makers have developed a culture of daily excellence and constant innovation to achieve the next level of “World Class Performance.”

MCC OKC’s commitment to the community extends beyond the plant to the Greater Oklahoma City area. The plant supports partners and initiatives such as the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, OKC Beautiful and the OKC Adopt-A-City Street Program. Next time you crack open a can of your favorite cold beverage, it may have been made here in OKC. Cheers to another 38 (and more) years.
