The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber announced today that Dennis Pruitt, CEcD, will join the organization as senior vice president of economic development. Pruitt will lead the Chamber’s business recruitment and expansion efforts, economic research, industry sector development and destination retail initiatives. He will also lead the Greater Oklahoma City Partnership, a 10-county regional economic development alliance.

Pruitt brings more than 30 years of experience in economic and community development. He most recently served as vice president of business development for the Missouri Partnership, a statewide public-private organization focused on economic growth across urban and rural communities. A recognized leader in economic development, Pruitt is actively involved in the International Economic Development Council and previously chaired its international committee.

His extensive network within the site selection industry and experience in building regional and statewide coalitions and partnerships will be instrumental in driving economic momentum across our region. He will be a transformative leader for our economic development initiatives.”

Pruitt was drawn to the position by the region’s tremendous potential. "This is an exciting opportunity to serve at a world-class chamber that is focused on community leadership and economic progress,” he said.  “I look forward to collaborating with the quality companies, organizations and governmental entities that work hard every day to position this dynamic 10-county region for growth."

Pruitt has been with the Missouri Partnership since 2008. He previously worked in economic development with the Montgomery County Action Council in Independence, Kansas, and as a planner for the cities of Independence and Hutchinson, Kansas. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harding University, a master’s degree from Texas A&M University and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute. He is also a certified economic developer through the International Economic Development Council.

Pruitt will begin his role in Oklahoma City in late March.
